Charlie Brown, Owner of Alamo River RV Ranch and Campground, acquired the land in 1993. This beautiful 100-acre ranch was what Mr. Brown knew would be the making of an amazing ranch and RV Resort. In 2005, they open their first RV spaces and now they have grown to about 10% of what the potential is. Everything is so well done and with time it will get bigger and better. Mr. Brown continues to build and expand the park with many recreational features in mind for families to enjoy.
History and beauty await you. This property is where the famous ‘Santa Anna Oak Tree’ stands. This 600-year-old oak tree has 3 trunks and is 12 feet across. It is said to be the place where, in 1836, while on his way to the Alamo, Santa Anna had to spend 2 nights. The Medina river was flooded, and Santa Anna camped under the tree waiting for the water to go down.
The horse riding is so fun! There are about 4 miles of secluded scenic wooded dirt trails to explore. Mr. Brown mentioned that most of the trails are shaded, so summer rides will be cool and breezy. Mr. Brown will also be adding obstacles in the near future, as well. If you are camping with your horse, they will be comfortable in one of the Horse Motel corrals where you can be close by in your tent or RV space. There is plenty of parking for your horse trailer. If your traveling with your horse, please stop by. They are a horse friendly facility and they make traveling with your horse, easier.
The Alamo River Ranch RV and Campground offers tent sites, RV sites, Cowboy horse camping, and two to six person cabins. There are many on-site activities such as fishing in the Medina River, volleyball, horseshoes, basketball hoop, nature trails, golf cart, bike rentals, and tether ball. Enjoy the conveniences of an onsite general store for all your necessities, barbecue grills, a community fire pit, picnic area with tables, dog run, RV and boat storage, fitness and business center, guest laundry facility, and playground for the kids. They offer primitive tent and RV camping along the river, as well.
