Local Horse Rescue Needs Public Support to win ASPCA Help A Horse $15,000 Adoption Contest
Missouri Forget-Me-Not Horse Rescue and Sanctuary

Linn Creek, MOThe Missouri Forget-Me-Not Horse Rescue and Sanctuary today announced that it is participating in a contest sponsored by the ASPCA to promote horse adoptions.  The winner of the contest can win up to $15,000.

MFMN is planning an exciting 3-day event from April 27-29th to celebrate ASPCA Help A Horse Day by showcasing horses that are available for adoption and giving the wonderful people who have adopted MFMN horses in the past, the opportunity to show them off.  The event starts on Friday evening with the Adopted Horses Showcase and Bar-B-Q at Rolling Hills Ranch just a few miles south of Camdenton off State Road P.  The Camdenton Saddle Club and Easy Rider 4-H are hosting this fundraising event to benefit MFMN.

All day Saturday the Camdenton Saddle Club will be conducting a horse show, open to all riders, with special classes for the MFMN adopted horses.  There will also be a clinic, where trainers will introduce the MFMN adoptable horses and put them through their paces.  (Please submit your adoption applications in advance of this event, for pre-approval. There is no obligation to adopt).

Sunday there will be a Cowboy Prayer service and breakfast, Poker Ride and Trail Obstacle Challenge.  We will also have activities for the cowgirls and cowboys that are too young to ride in the events.  Food and drinks are available for purchase, and primitive campsites with water are available for campers on all 3 days. Temporary stalls are available for the horses. (Pre-registration is required for campsite and stalls).

“We have some wonderful horses that are trained and waiting to be adopted.  This event is a great opportunity to get a close up look at our adoptable horses, talk to the trainer, and find that special horse for trail riding this summer”, stated Connie Hendrix, founder of Missouri Forget-Me-Not Horse Rescue and Sanctuary.  “Potential adopters can meet other people who have adopted our horses, see their horses and hear their experiences.  Increasing the number of horse adoptions is the goal of this ASPCA contest, and we believe that this event and others around the country will raise awareness of the plight of abandoned and surrendered horses.  These horses are good, sound horses that have been put at-risk by their owners through no fault of their own.  They deserve to have a second chance with someone who can enjoy them and value them for the beautiful animals that they are”.

Great opportunities are available for corporate sponsors and vendor booths for this event.  Please contact Donna Ogle at 573-745-1448 or email her at donna@missouriforgetmenot.com for more information.

About Missouri Forget-Me-Not Horse Rescue and Sanctuary

Missouri Forget-Me-Not Horse Rescue and Sanctuary in Linn Creek, MO, was established by Connie Hendrix and a small group of friends, when they were faced with a growing number of neglected and abandoned horses in their community.  MFMN was established in 2011 as a 501(c)3 non-profit animal welfare organization whose mission is to “provide aid and sanctuary to abused, neglected, abandoned or donated horses that come to them in need”. MFMN works with law enforcement and concerned citizens to rescue and provide sanctuary for at-risk horses.

Since 2011, MFMN has sheltered more than 428 horses, with 232 adoptions.  The Sanctuary and affiliated network of foster homes currently shelters over 130 horses.  Horses that can be rehabilitated and ridden are available for adoption to approved homes.  MFMN has minimal administrative costs, and is a 100% volunteer organization.  MFMN was accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) in 2016, and it is a member of the Homes for Horses Coalition. The main source of support for MFMN is private donations and various fundraisers that are held throughout the year.
