ETHA Parks: Tailwind Trails, Palm City, Florida

One of the first parks to join the ETHA in the summer of 2018 was Tailwind Trails. This exquisite 15 acre equestrian estate is located in the heart of Palm City, FL. The 10 stall CBS barn is hurricane rated and features hurricane fabric over all of the openings, a generator and impact glass. Each stall is 12 x 12 matted and drained with a fan, fly system and auto waters. It also features 6 wash and tack racks, hot/cold water, restroom, refrigerator, 16 ft. aisle way, 3 air-conditioned tack rooms and separate feed and hay rooms which are also air-conditioned. The property boasts a large riding area with great drainage and footing a jump field, a 3 area lake with beach where you can swim with your horse and a Mark Bolender designed Extreme Mountain Trail Course and a Cross Country Schooling Course. You can hack out of the gate to over 100 miles of public trails that are painted by the PCFTA. There is ample parking with easy turn around for large rigs. Tailwind Trails is a full board facility. They offer Board and Training packages for people who wish to have their horse trained on their Extreme Mountain Trail Course.

Tailwind Trails is the only Extreme Mountain Trail and Cross Country Schooling Course in South Florida, and they are very popular among the equestrian community. They host many events at Tailwind Trails; in the past recent months they have hosted a Natural Horsemanship Clinic with ETHA Trainer Nancy Slater, as well as a Mounted Shooting Clinic with Eric Ryan Anderson. They have also hosted a Cross Country Clinic, a Three Phase Horse Trail Eventing Show and many Open Schooling Days on their Extreme Mountain Trail Course which is offered twice a month. Their last Extreme Mountain Trail Day was May 18th and was sold out a month prior to the event. There is another one coming up on June 15th so book your spot now! Tailwind Trails is also very pleased to be hosting their first ever Mountain Trail Challenge Horse Show on May 25th. They offer discounts to all ETHA members as well as co-branded ETHA/Tailwind Trails hats for sale at the events. Currently, they do not offer overnight camping or accommodations for people but they do offer daily stalls for event haul-ins. Their proximity to Wellington, Orlando and fantastic Florida beaches makes or an ideal location.

Tailwind Trails caters both breakfast and lunch for their ETHA guests and present each with a custom made cookie featuring their Tailwind Trails logo. They take and post photos of events and often have professional photographers on hand. They had a professional drone flying over their course in April which caught fantastic aerial footage that they are then able to share with their guests. They get many repeat guests which means they are definitely doing something right at Tailwind Trails!

This is a family run facility and they strive to keep that family friendly, local, boutique feel in all that they do. They limit the number of riders in each event so that everyone has the space, time and attention they need to get the most out of their day. There is always a trained attendant out on the course to help, assist, guide and encourage every rider. They are constantly updating their immaculate course and have added TWO new obstacles last month with another coming in June. There is a gazebo in the center of the courses so that spectators can be safe in the middle of the action and have a great view of family and friends participating in the events. This beautiful facility truly is unlike any other in South Florida.

Tailwind Trails not only offers Orientations and Open Schooling on their course approximately twice a month, they also open the course for private groups and trainers with a reservation. They have hosted 4H, Girl Scouts, several therapy riding groups and the local Mounted Police groups. You can find out their hours of operation on their Facebook page. They are located conveniently between the FL Turnpike and I95.
